i know that this is an old issue but i just aquired a need for my mogul to use it as a modem for my laptop and i did just what you told me and when i go to the internet sharing section all i see is the pc connection section not the part for the where u choose sprint. if im not wrong there should be two sections to choose and i only see one. please help

What ROM are you using and did you install any of the internet sharing "fixes"?

This worked for me. After installing the 3.56.651.0, I was recieving the error code 67. Deleting this registry entry, then soft-rebooting the mogul allowed me to use it again without any issues.  As a matter of fact, I'm posting this via the internet charing connection on my mogul!

This is what worked for me as well! I used CeRegEditor to do the changes.

I'm a Sprint Mogul user with Win 6.1. Had been having problems with "Error 67" when trying the instructions in the initial post of this thread. I too only had the "PC Connection" drop down menu, the "Network Connection" drop-down in Internet Sharing was not there.

After much cussing and swearing, here's how to get a Mogul with the latest Sprint ROM and Win 6.1 to tether with a laptop if you do NOT have the "Network Connection" drop down menu in Internet Sharing.

1. Download and install a registry editor such as CeRegEdit.

2. Open the editor and navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm|InternetSharing\Settings

3. Remove the string: ForceConnect=Phone as Modem. Save and exit the reg editor.

4. Soft reset the Mogul and remove the USB cable.

5. Open IE and browse to any site. This launches the #777 Sprint PCS connection.

6. Click Start/Programs/Internet Sharing. You should now have a "Network Connection:" drop down. Choose "Sprint PCS" (the "PC Connection:" should be "USB" if you're tethering via cable).

7. Click the "Connect" softkey and then plug in the USB cable. Within a few seconds the Status will change from "Disconnected" or "Check cable" to "Connected".

You should now be able to access the internet from your laptop thru the Mogul. I'm writing this post using my tethered 6800...

I am using ROM version 3.56.651.0.  I have tried a couple of hacks and it didn't work.  I tried to edit the registry myself using CeRegEdit and it denies me access to edit the registry in anyway.  Any advice?

ok, i got this to work first time off, no problem and yes, i have an unlimited data plan on my mogul.

i did the registry edit and deleted the extension file so i havent gotten any error 67s

then i did some research and have learned that sprint has introduced a 5gb cap...now, my question is does that cap effect only sprint air card holders or is this cap also in effect for telephone data as well?

i am only browsing the web on my laptop, as well as the occasional youtube video..and im mostly wondering if im going to be in for a surprise $500 bill for going over an "unlimited" plan

please reply, i need to know this...as i have NO internet at home and either have to browse by phone, or use this "trick" that i only learned 3 days ago...after having the mogul for well over a year.

Same thing happened to me until I realized the app protects you from yourself.

Go to --> Tools --> Unlock registry.

The "Network Connection" was not showing up at all until I applied your suggestion. I would like to add WAIT until the HTC and PC/notebook finish the USB connection before hitting "Connect".

Amazing how fast 1MB can dl using this mod.

Pavlov.. you need to enable the registry editing first. Unlock the registry under the tools menu.

then you can edit.

Just tried what you posted, however when I get to Internet Sharing, I don't have a SPRINT PCS network connection option. I tapped the antenna icon at the top to make sure I was connected to PCS, but all it says is Sprint. FYI, when I open IE, then Start, then Programs and Internet Sharing, the only thing that I see is Status Disconnected, and a PC connection with options for USB or Bluetooth PAN. Any thoughts????????

PS...I also get the error code 67 regarding username/password
