I've been running Vista long before I got my phone, and have had no issues installing programs at all. None.

This is how it works for me:

I installed WinRar to my Desktop PC.

To put a new application onto my pocket pc: I download the zip and unzip it with WinRar on my Desktop PC. I then open the unzipped folder.

Inside I find a .cab file.

I connect my pocket pc to the desktop and wait for Activesync to pop up. Once it's there, I see an option that says "Explore". I click on it and see all the files I have on my pocket pc. I find a place where I would put the cab in (usually on my storage card).

I then grab the .cab file and drag and drop it into my pocket pc folder.

I disconnect the pocket pc . The desktop step is done now.

I take my pocket pc and open "start/explore" and find the folder I dropped the .cab file into.

I click on it and the install process begins. The I usually soft reset the pocket pc.

I hope this helps you!

My phone is doing the same. I am downloading the cab file for Picturemail directly from the website onto the phone. Obviously by using my Mogul. I go to File Explorer, and click on the file. It says,

"There is no application associated with "s". Run the application first, then open this file from within the applicaton."

What am I supposed to do?

Try putting the file on your computer and renaming the extension so that it has .cab at the end. If you have the extensions hidden on your computer, go to My Computer > Tools > Folder Options > View Tab > and uncheck "hide extensions for known file types"

This will let you edit the extension of the file to the right one. After you've done that, put it back on your phone and try to open it.

i download the .cab file to my desktop, active sync my pc and mogul, click 'explore'  and copy the .cab file into my mogul's 'my documents' folder.  then i go to 'file explorer' and find the .cab file, click it and everytime, no matter what .cab file it is, i get "the file 'cab' cannot be opened. either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. if the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file"

wtf.

i am having the same problem everyone else it, I can not get cab files to install, I get the same error message. I have had success with a few .exe files, but .cab and other types of files no luck at all, I have searched many forums and still cannot find instructions that work.
