Finally got my phone today... with no signature required.  The UPS guy just dropped it off on my doorstep without even knocking. :P

Classic, they never do that for me. I even write notes on the door to leave it with my neighbors, and they never have. I've gotten to the point where I don't even try anymore, and I just expect to have to willcall it.

So my phone just came in today. I let it charge for a few hours while at work, then came back home to play with the phone and activate it. The phone had a number written on the case, which was my local area code, and i figured that was my phone, but then I called to activate the phone (not sure if this was needed or not) and the guy gave me a new number, and is now telling me not to touch the phone for 2-3 hours while it's being programed. The guy was hard to understand maybe the bluetooth headset, but he didn't know what plan I had, or anything, although all this information is already entered?

Kinda worried what the guy signed me up for / didn't sign me up for, although I did tell him several times the SERO 500 minute plan which is only $30 and he said yeah he found that, then I told him I also wanted the Insurance on the phone and he said he added it. Just seemed weird, I went online and it's not showing anything yet but I'll check it out in a bit and confirm that the account details are correct.

So first experince with sprint, poor. Esp when Verizon can program a phone in a matter of minutes.

I've heard of them telling other people to leave their phone alone for a couple hours after activating, but I don't remember them saying anything of the sort to me and it worked fine immediately after activation. *shrug* It might be like tech support telling you to reboot your computer. It's not actually going to fix anything, it just doesn't hurt.

Yeah I already got bored and called the number and it worked, although the data isn't working yet... the guy did say that'd take longer... so just surfing wifi now!

Well, mine is enroute... UPS tracking says it should arrive on Wednesday... I ordered it last Wednesday.  Have had nothing but issues.... online status still shows it as "order in progress"... no tracking, etc.  Friday morning, I checked my credit card online and it had been charged.  Got PO'd about that since there was no update to the status online.  Called and got routed around between various reps in various departments and spent MUCH time on hold.  Never got a firm answer about if/when the phone had shipped on Friday.  Did the same dance between departments this morning but finally found someone who said the phone had shipped and gave me a tracking number.

I've been a Sprint customer for 9+ years now and there customer service has steadily declined over the years.  I have been satisfied with their network though and I rarely have to deal with customer service so I've stayed.  Hopefully this device will live up to my expectations and I hope the rest of you are having better luck getting yours then me!

Hi guys - name's Dave - should be getting my Mogul soon I think, i'm on hold checking the order status now.   I'm a Sprint employee (but I work in Network Ops, so no, I don't have any idea about retail prices, plan pricing or anything of that sort) and I'm coming from a Treo 700p.

I'm not normally a Windows fan, and have never used Windows Mobile, but some things about Palm OS started to bug me after three Palm devices in a row.  Like the fact that I couldn't easily find files, couldn't have multiple apps running in parallel and switch between them, etc.  Plus Windows natively runs all the programs I need, especially Excel and Visio, without having to drop serious coin on them - the same reason I switched back to a PC from Mac last year.

Interestingly, the PPC6700 was almost universally reviled by the users around the office here.   I see now that it got some good reviews around the net, though.

The Mogul really interested me because it seems like a very refined piece compared to the 6700, and I figured why not give it and WM6 a shot.   I've got 30 days to dump it if I hate it anyway...

I'm new to this forum and already figure I'll be changing registry keys like mad to get around some of the clunkier points of the phone =0)  Hey Gaines:  You seem like the HMFIC around here, could you do total noobs a favor and, if a key change affects the appearance of the phone's interface, would ya post before and after pics so we can see what the change has done?

Thanks and I'll post back when I receive the Mogul!

LOL. Had to do an urban dictionary lookup of HMFIC.

That's a great idea about the before/after screenshots. Unfortunately I don't actually use all the registry hacks myself and am spreading my time pretty thin at the moment. The good news is, anyone can take screenshots though if they install Screen Capture. I'm sure we've got some users who are trying out the different hacks who could send in some screen shots.

Got my phone last Thursday after 4 days of PAIN with the Sprint Customer Grief center!!  This site is good because trying to find information on it right now is really hard with it being a new phone.

What is everyone doing about a protective shell around the phone - I am using the screen protection that came with it and the case (which BTW is one of the best cases I have ever got with a phone)

Anyone know if Sprint is charging for using the phone as a Modem - have heard a few different things on this so I was just wondering what the deal is.

BTW -Sero will not support the family plans so it was not worth it to move to the SERO plan - I am still working with Sprint to get me some free services for all the pain I went through to upgrade a phone.

ok - got the phone last night, got it activated before I went to bed.    Been using it all day.

I just don't know if I like it.   WM6 as a concept sounds good though and hopefully I can get it tweaked fully to my needs.   The biggest thing I don't know about is having to pop the keyboard open all the time.   My phone use is probably 75% text messaging in full-blown conversations, which I perhaps should have thought of first.   And the keyboard on the mogul, while fast to type on, has this sanded-off-grip-tape feel to it that gives me a spine chill whenever i slide a finger across it - kinda like the sound of a dull pencil, or nails on a chalkboard for some people.

Still, I've got 30 days, I intend to give it the ol' college try.   Have many questions to post, which I will in another thread.
