I'm not sure about everyone else, but my Sprint PCS connection works without a username, password or domain.

Works for me with a Windows XP laptop.
I guess there is no need for me to purchase PDANet if the function is already built in with the Mogul

This will NOT work with the 6700. The phone as modem program is completely different.
The reason it works with the 6800, is because it runs Windows Mobile 6 and Microsoft threw the program in as a freebie with WM6.

Thanks to OP and dfrank! I got it working in XP. I did find out the hard way that the generic RNDIS driver which it needs to communicate over USB is only available after you install activesync. I guess since the driver comes with ActiveSync it probably would work in other windows versions.
Now, anyone know how to make it work in Mac OS X?

the same directions as the OP posted. Just have ActiveSync installed on the laptop prior to trying it out.
