Wow, I feel so much smarter after reading this thread. I'll have to sit down and really learn how to do this before attempting anything.
I've also got to find a proper back up program. Right now, everything is backed up on my PC, but it doesn't download all the updates back to my phone after a hard reset.
So much to learn, so little time. Thanks guys.

Hey Guys,
After countless tries, I was unable to edit my config.txt file in the Extended_ROM section, but I think I stumbled upon a way to prevent the "junk" roms from installing. This is just a temporary solution because you will have to do this everytime you hard reset. After a hard reset, let WM6 boot up. When the little box pops up saying it will start installing software in 3 seconds, push the reset button with your stylus. When WM6 boots back up, it no longer tries to install the factory software. Can someone confirm that this is atleast a kind of useful trick or is my mind playing tricks on me? Haha.

I was wondering about that...as the Sprint gunk is a script-loaded event. Hmm....try making a phone call now :D
UPDATE ON THE BATTERY HACKS:
Almost a week later, and I'm averaging a recharge every two days. Not bad for heavy browsing/phone/music usage! Of all registry hacks, this is the first you should do!
If you're having major battery issues, tho', don't hesitate to hit the Sprint store. They'll usually swap the battery without question.

i cant seem to get the tweak to stay permanent. everytime i perform a soft reset, the settings revert back to the original. anything i'm doing wrong? i'm using PHM regedit, and when i change the setting from 1 to 0, it never asks me to save or anything.
nm...somehow after a few more soft resets, it stayed.

You need to always wait a couple minutes before soft resetting after a registry change. It takes a little time to be written to the ROM

In your hack:
"
Speed up dialing on your 6700:
Turn off keypad tones:
Press green phone button
Bottom right "MENU"
OPTIONS
KEYPAD = OFF
OK
speeds up the dialing process a lil bit
But remember one thing- If you turn the tones off, then you will lose your ability to send "TouchTones" by hitting certain digits. No dialing of extensions, PIN numbers etc.
"
one thing is wrong, the last part. It does NOT prevent the tone feature from working with your bank, etc. They are generated elsewhere even though you don't hear them. I do it every day

Yes, as you were told on previous post, you should wait a little after doing registry changes and closing your editor before doing a soft reset.
I use TRE from www2r.biglobe.ne.jp/~tascal/ as a registry editor and I don't have that problem though!

Thanks for the comment perhaps it was a limitation for the PPC-6700... I did have that problem on that specific phone. I might delete that part from the hack... let me do some testing.

Do you know what these actually do? I'd love improved battery life, but want to know what I'm enabling power management on and what effect it will have.
