i am upgraded to the new rom and just connected with the free tether way. Opened IE on the phone then did internet sharing, pressed connect and attached the phone to my pc(vista) disabled my regular net connection and am making this post on the sprint connection.

Thanks for the tip. This was cake to setup, ill see how it goes tonight. Im going to be playing runescape for about 5 hours. I dont think i will have a problem its a low end browser rpg that can be played on dial up. Hopefully they dont notice.

does this require active sync to be installed on the computer? b/c this would be brilliant at school... (they block email/digg/ other time wasters)

vista doesnt use active sync it uses mobile sync or w/e vista has for it. Pretty much just like a plug n play device.

guys with the new rom, i had the same problem, but dc from this forum pointed me in the right direction

download the app, and transfer it over to your mogul and run it, no registry editing required, no nothing, works like magic, thanks again dc

Sup! Got my hands on an instinct , and I love my mogul phone, it can do anything I got fully pimped out with windows 6.1 and all the htc software, you can't do that with an instint can you, hmmm, is there a way to make an instict to have a diffrent apperating system. But that's besides my intended question which was can I use both phones with the same number, just want to pimp my instinct at times. Be cool if it could have a differnt apperating sofware and make it like my mogul though.

Runs perfect under XP with no problems. Plugged it in like the directions said and off it went. I just had to allow it via Zone Alarm settings. After that I didn't do anything... just starting typing this reply. I do have active sync installed buty I don't know if that had anything to do with it.

...Those of you running Sprint ROMs should navigate to the following registry key “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing” and delete the string value named “Extension”. This will allow you to connect to the Internet via the “Internet Sharing” app without the dreaded error 67/authentication errors.”
This worked for me. After installing the 3.56.651.0, I was recieving the error code 67. Deleting this registry entry, then soft-rebooting the mogul allowed me to use it again without any issues. As a matter of fact, I'm posting this via the internet charing connection on my mogul!

Just wanted to clarify the Regedit:
I browsed to HKLM\Comm\InternetSharing\Settings and removed the string "ForceConnect=Phone as Modem"
Now, an additional option appears in the Internet Sharing app that allows me to select Sprint PCS as my connection method.
I have tested this via Bluetooth with my laptop and it connects properly.
