Hello all,
if there was a previous thread about this topic then I apologize.
First off, I had the PPC 6700 for about 5 months and I absolutely hated it because of 2 reasons. One, it was SUPER slow. I liked the Windows 5 and also the Wifi feature, however because the processor was soooo slow that I would miss calls even after I hit the answer button. Two, the battery life was terrible. Due to my frequent traveling, I am on the plane most of the time and thus I bought a PDA so I can check my email frequently and surf on internet at the air port without taking out my laptop. Without running any programs, no wifi, couple phone calls, no email checking, at a full charge in the morning, at night time, the battery will be at 40% or 50% if I am lucky.
Then a friend of mine wanted to trade his Palm Treo 650 with my 6700. I was very unhappy with my 6700 so I tried the 650 and this was by far the best phone I ever had. Battery life was AMAZING. Hands down, Palm Treo has the best battery life. It would lag time to time but it was still much faster than the 6700. One other reason why I loved the Treo was because the Palm O.S. was very user friendly.
Now my question is this. Is anyone coming from the 6700 or the treo 650? I must have read and seen hundreds of reviews and videos about the 6800 but none of them really answers my question. I want to know from the REAL users of 6800, how long the battery life is, (talk time, stand by time, using EVDO, using WIFI), and how fast the processor is compared to the 6700. I really want to get this phone but if it's like 6700 then i rather get the Treo 700p.
Also, does this SERO plan work? Can you get Mogul for cheaper? I have been with Sprint for about 4 years now and I have 5 lines on my plan sharing 3000 mins with my family. My contract doesn't expire until like 2009 because I recently upgraded on of my phone line, but I can still upgrade another phone that's in my family plan. I am eligible for $150 off. Can I join the SERO plan which the phone will be $288 and then can I use my upgrade so I can get the phone for $288-$150 = $133? Is this possible?
Thanks for your time to read this and I would be very appreciated if someone can help me out.

Is possible but you have to get the Sero first... then call the Sero 1-800 and upgrade your phone.

I dare say anything is possibly with Sprint, but it can be difficult getting them to convert an existing plan to a SERO especially without an ETF (Early Termination Fee). It would be near impossible to get them to give you the new SERO customer discount on the Mogul AND a renewal discount.
IMHO, either you eat the early termination fee and switch all your phones to SERO (ie. $30/month - 15% customer loyalty = ~$26/month each) or you stick with the family plan and just take your renewal discount on one of the lines.

As far as your battery question...
The Mogul has a slightly better battery. The 6700 comes with a 1350mAh capacity and the Mogul comes with a 1500mAh battery. However, in my experience with both phones (I used the 6700 for 2 years before upgrading to the Mogul 2 weeks ago), the larger capacity battery does not give a significant increased battery time.
FYI, my 6700 battery hardly made it for 2 full days and any given day usage was:
- WiFi off
- email checking X 4 or 5 times a day
- Aprox 30 intermitant phone minutes
- EVDO internet usage X 2 or 3/day 10 minutes each on average
- Aprox 1 hour/day intermitant PocketPC use
- Aprox 10 text messages/day (10 total-incoming and outgoing)
- Sprint signal on my area is constatnly at only 1 or 2 bars
- Brightness at half of the setting
- Bluetooth off, I don't use any of bluetooth devices
- "Receive all incoming beams" turned off
- Activesync hack so it will not automatically start on its own
- Vibration on (sound off) all the time
- And some more battery saving opportunities set to 'conserve' battery charge
With that being said, after I switched to the Mogul (and with same usage as above) the Mogul will last me well 2 full days. Very often only 1 full day... but I think I am using the Mogul a little more than the 6700.
Battery is important but... for me, it is more important usage of a larger screen and WM platform. I solved the battery problem with an extra battery that I had with me all the time.
The 6700 used to halt very often but after some hacks and rebooting (soft reset) everyday or at least every other day, I only had no-responding issues once or twince a month.... same with the Mogul so far.
I hope that helped!

As far as you comment above, perhaps the Mogul will be better. It has dual core processor (one at 400mhz for the PocketPC and another one at 133mhz dedicated for the phone).

I was looking at CNET and for this phone and there are a lot of good reviews from people who use this phone. CNET graded this phone at 7.3 but the combined reviews from 25 people (actual users) have a score of 9.0
