What exactly are the benifits of the ROM extender? I understand deleting the unnecessary cab files, but will installing or running programs from the Extended ROM make them run faster?

ive only been able to install small apps(under 400kb) onto the external ROM..no problems so far

Has anyone used this and actually seen their available RAM go up after removing cab's from the ROM?  If it DOES help your RAM situation, did you have to hard reset?

I'm a bit weary of pulling the trigger because there is a whole thread going on over at PPCGeeks where folks are having to interrupt the startup, do a complete hard reset, etc.

Will the ROM Extender in the download section eliminate the need to mess with the hard reset?
