Hi all,

I recently updated the ROM found off HTC.com (HTC Rev.A and LBS Update – Version 3.35.651.2) After that was completely installed, I did a soft reset and the problem was found. When I do a soft reset, it takes almost 15 mins to 1.5 hours to connect to the network. While my Mogul is searching for the network, there is a Triangle symbol next to the signal bars. I can't make any calls until I am fully connected to the network.

Earlier today, I took it to Sprint Phone Repair Center and a technian did a "Hard Reset" for me. At the time, when I did a soft reset, it took about 1 min or 2 to be back on the network, which I thought the problem was solved. However, when I got home, I did a soft reset again, it's doing the same thing. Just now, before I started writing this post, I did a soft reset and it's still searching for the network with the small triangle showing next to the signal bars. Is this happening to anyone? What can I do to fix this problem?
I'm not sure if it's where I live, (Bad connection where I live, constant dropped calls, sometimes I won't even receive calls due to bad connection) However, before I updated the ROM, when I did a soft reset, it didn't take more than 2 mins to be back on the network. Also this is my first time seeing the triangle symbol next to the signal bars. What can I do to fix this? Please help me! Thanks!

u might of gotten a lemon of a phone. I had that prob back in dec. but i was using the rom before the 1 u are on and it ended up being a bad phone. so try getting a new one. if that doesnt work then its your area maybe.

Haha, no way. The Micro$oft guy will just get a custom phone and we'll all get screwed over again! - oniisan608 IRC CHANNEL irc://irc.freenode.net/SprintMogul.net

What is a lemon of a phone? And what procedure would I have to go through to receive a new one? I have insurance on my Mogul.
So are you saying that my phone is messed up? My phone just got back on the network since I did a soft reset almost 2 hours ago. It's never done this before and it is getting really annoying.

I am going to go back to the Sprint Phone Repair Center tomorrow and let them know nothing has changed since they repaired it. Maybe they will give me the Samsung instinct in replacement of my Mogul. haha.

If anyone else knows what's going on, please let me know. Thanks.

I have a couple of thoughts on your problem.  It seems that it worked fine before the rom upgrade.  So it should not be the network (alone) that is causing the problem.  I am sure that it will work fine again in the sprint store, because they would be sure their stores have a strong signal.  Your signal at home is obviously not as strong.

So you can try a couple of things.  You can update the preferred roaming list.  Call sprint customer service and request that they "update the prl".  They should be able to take care of it from there.  It would require a soft reset.

You can also upgrade the radio.  The latest radio is 3.39, which can be found on this thread:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=392140

However, I don't know how sprint customer service would feel about adding a radio that's newer than the one they officially recommend.

Before I do any of that, can you briefly explain what these things are? I've never heard of these things that you mentioned.

What is preferred roaming list?

What is the radio? and what does this do?

I am planning to take it to the Sprint store once again later today to see what they can do for me. If they can't do anything for me at the store then I'll try your methods. It is really annoying because I have no idea what's causing the problem.

prefered roaming list, or prl, is a list of towers that the phone uses to communicate with the network when roaming.  I don't fully understand how it works, but I noticed that once after I got that update on my phone, I had a better job of the roaming.

The radio is the programing of the phone that communicates with the network.  I guess I was more thinking out loud with the radio.  Ignore that comment.  Istalling a different radio may actually void the warranty.  I change my radio and rom without hesitation, but I'm not afraid of breaking it because I usually can fix it on my own.

Okay, I went back to Sprint and apparently there is a dead-spot at my place. I tried explaning that the connection problem didn't occur 'till I updated the rom to Rev A... but the sprint tech was saying it passed all the tests so it's not a bad phone and that he couldn't do anything. I guess I have to live with this problem... Any other suggestions?

Try updating your PRL.  You can do this one of two ways.  Call *2 from your Mogul and ask for a PRL update.  Then wait a bit, then call *2 again.  The PRL should update.

The other way is to do it manually,

Download the program called GETSPC.  Unzip it and copy it to your SD card on the Mogul. http://www.5gmobile.us/mobilefiles/VX6800/GetSPC.zip

Remove your battery and get your electronic serial number (ESN).

Run GETSPC and enter your ESN.  GETSPC will give you a code.  This is your MSL.  Write it down.

Goto this website and download the latest PRL for Sprint.  http://www.corolada.com/prl/   Copy your new PRL file to the SD Card on your Mogul.

Bring up the phone application and dial ##775#.  This will ask you for the code you just got.  Enter it and press/tap OK.

Tap on the only line available to highlight it.  Tap on MENU, select EDIT.  Click on browse.  It will search your device for all PRLs.  Select the one you copied to your phone.  Tap OK.

Tap on MENU then OK, then Tap on YES.   Your phone will need to be reset so tap on OK when the popup shows up.

Good luck

Additionally, The latest doesnt mean the greatest.  So, download the other PRLs while youre at it and copy them all to the Mogul.  Keep the one that works best for you.  DO NOT DOWNLOAD ANY OTHER THAN SPRINT AND MUST START WITH 6.
