I posted this on the HoFo forums last night, so I'm gonna copy my message to this forum so Mogul owners can get free tethering on their device without the need of any 3rd party software (eg. PDAnet which costs $$).
Boy, was this simple. Follow these directions to tether to your Vista laptop. I am unsure about how this works with XP or previous versions of Windows.
Start off by NOT connecting the USB cable to your laptop.
Step 1) Connect to the internet on your Mogul via IE or ActiveSync so that your phone is connected to the Sprint PCS connection via #777.
2) Click the Start button > Programs
3) Open the Internet Sharing program
4) Choose "Sprint PCS" from the Network Connection options
5) Click the "Connect" softkey and the status should read "Connected" or "Check USB connection"
6) Connect the USB cable to your laptop and the Windows Vista network and sharing center will automaically detect the network connection after it loads the needed drivers.
7) Enjoy your free tethering but don't abuse it! Use it for email and web browsing or else they may cut you off if you spike their tower usage.

Excellent instructions. I've moved this to the Tweaks & Tips section as I expect many people will be looking for this. :)

Cool. I bought PDANet as a last resort to be on the safe side, in some ways.

"error code 67
pcs vision username/and or password may be incorrect, please try again"
this is the error message i keep getting if i try to do this. however if i just use IE it works fine as well as anything regarding internet (not tethering though. i mean everything related to internet other than....IE, piscel, texts, phone calls) . where can i even put in my password and username if i even remember it from my very first sprint phone?

Make sure you are connected to Sprint PCS (check by clicking the signal icon). It should read "Sprint PCS: Connected". If not, open IE and goto www.google.com and it will automatically dial #777 to connect to Sprint PCS.
Also, make sure that in the Internet Sharing program you have "Sprint PCS" selected as the Network Connection. If you choose Phone as Modem, it will fail and give this error everytime. If you aren't connected to Sprint PCS when you click the Connect button in the Internet Sharing program, it will also fail everytime with the error code 67.

oh ok. so this code is normal? i thought maybe it was because i originally had some sort of username and password i made when i first joined with sprint on my first sprint phone. i vaguely remember making an @sprintpcs.com email addy but wasnt sure what the password was. this isnt what i need?

No, the error is not normal if you follow the directions. I was saying you probably wern't connected to the internet. What I mentioned was how to check and see if you are connected.
