Hi!

I've never posted here, but do read the forums often and find this to be one of the most friendly and informative forums I belong to.

I bought my Mogul through the Sprint website and stupidly didn't activate it right away because I wanted to better understand how to use it first (I should have immediately activated it and would have learned everything by using it).

Recently I had my Mogul stolen from my carry on bag on a United Airlines flight. Sprint told me they can't replace it since it has not been activated and can only replace my current phone. United has been giving me the run around and basically are not doing anything either. I am beyond frustrated and if the phone had not been so expensive, I would give up. Nevertheless, I feel like there has to be some sort of way to still get compensated for the loss and decided to post here to see if anyone had any suggestions. I really hope I can do something and not just eat my loss. I definitely have learned a very expensive lesson though about activating a phone immediately so I'm protected. I hope that it's not a lost cause because I doubt I'll be able to afford another Mogul anytime soon.

Sorry for making this lengthy and any advise given will be appreciated.

I don't know Sprint policy regarding a non-activated phone. If you reported the phone stolen Sprint should have deactivated the ESN so it can't be used by anyone else. Unless you have insurance I don't think Sprint will replace it regardless of the circumstances. But if you do have insurance and you reported it stolen then I don't see why the insurance wouldn't cover it, activated or not.

This issue belongs to the airlines.  Just as lost luggage, etc.  Security (TSA) may have taken it.  I would check with your departing airport's TSA.  You will most likely need your ESN (electronic serial number).  Popdog is right about having Sprint killing the ESN on the phone so that it can't be activated.  That will certainly upset the person who could end up buying it on eBay.

Sorry for the latter...Its just a chance you take buying stuff on eBay at times.

I hope you get a resolution.
