i have a mogul and am on the $30 sero plan. when i log into sprint.com it says i'm eligable for $75 on an upgrade. My current plan expires 10/2009.
if i click on the upgrade button it tells me i have to go to the everything plus plan.
So if i buy the touch pro2, do i also have to change to the everything plus plan? the touch pro2 looks really nice. but thats going to be a pretty steep price to pay - almost full price on the phone AND doubling my monthly bill.
If thats the case, i dont feel that much need to stay with sprint - unless anyone has a suggestion as to how i could keep the sero plan. or does anyone recommend another phone on another network?
thanks

It seems Sprint is trying to squeeze people out of the old SERO plan. I think if you call retentions you can renew your current contract for another two years with a new phone. You might have to call a few times to get the right person to do it for you. Just make sure it's a contract renewal, not an upgrade or add on. I've read of people going to Best Buy and having their SERO plans renewed when they bought a Touch Pro. Also, you can just buy a Sprint branded phone on ebay or where ever and do an ESN swap online.

I just renewed my Sero Plan for another two years with out a problem, they even gave me $75 for renewing. I will have $150 towards a new phone next month hope I won't have a problem upgrading. I didn't think that the touch pro 2 was available yet.

so - they gave you $75 for renewing, AND you are still egligable for a credit when you upgrade the phone??
The touch pro2 isnt available yet (the email rep from the everything plus site didnt even know what it was- thought i meant the pre) but engadget had an article showing a picture of a pro2 and saying they think it's going to be released in mid-june.

one other question - i noticed on the everything plus plan it says phone as modem/tethering is not included.
Does this mean if i did go on the everything plus plan, i would not be able to use the phone as a modem or that it would cost me extra to do so?
Do you happen to know if i can still do this with the touch pro2 assuming i stay on the sero plan? I dont have to do this often, but the times i have needed it, it's been very useful.

Sprint has a Phone As Modem addon (PAM). I forget how much extra it costs. Sprint "disabled" the ability to tether with their newer ROMs, but there is a fix for that on this and every other WM site. Some people consider it stealing since you are using your phone in a way that would normally require you to pay extra to Sprint.
I'm guessing Sprint will also disable tethering on the TP2. I'm also guessing that a fix will be available for it as well if the current fix doesn't work for it.

Ah ok, thanks for the explanation. I dont particularly feel bad about the tethering since sero is supposed to be unlimited data, and thats all that tether is, is date. Plus i dont use it all that often. It's not like i'm downloading movies with it or anything :)
Anyhow, thanks again for the info. Even if the tp2 comes out in june, i'll probably wait till august since thats when i become eligable for a $150 credit instead of $75.
